- 1. First six stages of raising. The middle picture shows heating the metal to anneal it, a process which was done between each of the six stages.
- 2. Next stage, taking it beyond 90°from flat.
- 3. After another annealing, going even further.
- 4. After annealing again, using a snaky stake to close it up even more.
- 5. Using this cone-shaped hardwood cavity and the hydraulic press to push out the chin.
- 6. Heavy planishing on the chin area formed in the previous step.
- 7. Using the stake shown at the top to re-form the area that will be the bottom.
- 8. Annealing for the umpteenth time.
- 9. Using a special tool and the hydraulic press to push out the nose.
- 10. Shaping the nose on that same tool.
- 11. Using the stake shown on the left, hammering below it to form depressions for the eyes, and brow ridges.
- 12. Hammering around the stake shown at the top forms the cheeks.
- 13. Using the snaky stake shown a few steps back, but facing up instead of down, to form the flat area of the bottom.
- 14. Using the stake shown at the top to planish the top area.
- 15. One of several steps used to form the outline of the ears.
